Description

Tropical Mexico | Salsa Classes
From February 8th to April 5th, 2025
A product of cultural fusion and fusion, cumbia and salsa are two musical rhythms that are now an essential part of popular festivals in Mexico.

Heirs to traditions such as mambo, cha-cha-chá, rumba, son, bolero, and romantic ballads, which combine legacies from Colombia, Puerto Rico, and Cuba, cumbia and salsa have given rise to expressions such as the sonidero movement and constitute the fundamental repertoire of major dance halls in Mexico City such as Salón Los Ángeles, Salón Tropicana, and the California Dancing Club.

Composed of eight Saturday sessions, Tropical Mexico will offer the basic knowledge to dance salsa skillfully, while familiarizing attendees with the characteristic music of parties and celebrations in our country.

Sessions: Saturday, February 8, 15, and 22; March 1, 8, 15, and 29; and April 5.

Taught by Denisse Martínez, a Tabasco-born dancer specializing in classical and Latin dance, and Mattia Calderón, a professional dancer specializing in Latin dance.
