SYNOPSIS: THE CLEANERS

A sign hangs from the handle of the room. “Please tidy the room.” Upon returning from the beach, the beds are made, the towels are clean, and the bathroom is spotless. They are the cleaners, the invisible ones who carry the burden of a precarious tourism system. The Cleaners is a utopian satire inspired by the organized struggle of hotel chambermaids to achieve fair labor and social rights. Facing them is the voracious greed of hotel chain owners. Some people have never cleaned a toilet, while others clean five hundred a month.
