Description:

Landmark & historical place

The Plaza de Toros de Valencia was built between 1850 and 1860 [3] on the site of a previous plaza that, due to budget problems, was never completed. It is neoclassical, inspired by Roman civil architecture, the theater of Flavio Marcelo (Colosseum) [4], or the amphitheater of Nimes (France). It was built by the Valencian architect Sebastián Monleón Estellés. It is a 48-sided polygonal body, more than 17 meters high and 52 meters in diameter of the ring. With these dimensions they make it one of the largest squares in Spain.

It is currently owned by the General Hospital, being administered by the Provincial Council of Valencia. Its current capacity is 12,884 seats. A fire in 1946 destroyed the stands and it was not until 1968 when they were extended. [5]

Over the years, its management has alternated, having been managed both by a private company and by direct management by the Valencia Provincial Council itself. Since 1995 it has been a private company. [citation needed] His bullfighting posters are one of the most popular in Spain. [citation required] It is located next to the North Station of Valencia. Access with lines 3 and 5 of MetroValencia (Játiva Station).
