“Parental control: explicit letters!”… The new from Langui is coming strong. 'Spasticity' is his new work in which his usual overcoming philosophy is expressed with more realism and harshness than ever. After making his solo debut in 2016 with 'Hello!', Langui titles this work with the name of that harsh symptomatology that has been with him for a lifetime and that stiffens, tenses, deforms and disables the lives of those who suffer from different serious pathologies (stroke, sclerosis multiple, cerebral palsy...)
Today's society, without knowing it (or without wanting to know it) is also affected by a spasticity that seizes the initiative, empathy and collective sense of citizens. This evidence, which is seen more and more on a day-to-day basis, has motivated Langui to title his new work with the name of this symptomatology and, even, to turn it into a song in which his son Hugo Montilla and Kase O collaborate. The three perform a tough song, one of those that doesn't hide the rawness of the monster but also doesn't hide the chances of getting ahead… of “being happy, even”.
The video clip is as raw and real as the song itself, alternating the pathological rigidity of the patient with the social spasticity of those waiting for the bus paralyzed by the screen of their mobile devices. "In my day to day -Langui confesses- I have to live with the rigidity of my disease, but I also have to live with a society that does not have this disability and that, however, is also tense, does not lift its neck from its screens and everything around him is lost because of competitive individualism, fake news and other serious social ills”. 'Achukei' is another of the creations on the album in which the transmission of values from father to son appears, in the foreground, with Langui applying the domestic pedagogy of that father who was right, who was wrong and who got up after falling …
By the way, Hugo Montilla and Langui are also the protagonists of the short film 'Intentando' that is being screened at festivals and in which 'father and son' demonstrate a dramatic chemistry that is surprising the industry. Pay attention, once again, to Juan Manuel Montilla, writer and director... In addition to Kase.O (“the shrimp of rap” as 'Langui' says) the new album includes collaborations such as those of Brisa Fenoy, Diego 'El Cigala', La Excepción and 'Zatu' from SFDK.
All artists and all friends with whom Langui has become involved to lighten the deep baggage of the first two songs on the album. Brisa Fenoy accompanies her on 'Viaja', providing fuss, clapping and a very distinctive motivational message from the neighbourhood. Diego 'El Cigala' 'salsea' with Langui covering 'Y no hago más na' by El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico. In addition to making us dance, Langui warns that this song "is a wake-up call to a certain traditional society that prefers not to do anything and settle for social assistance." From the ranks of SFDK, 'Zatu' collaborates on 'La causa' contributing the ecological message of the album...
And Gitano Antón could not be missing either for La Excepción to participate with 'Chen verdad' contributing intercontinental rap, stopping off in Panbendito, Cuba or Caribbean.
The album -with Oscar Sánchez from SFDK producing most of the songs- closes resoundingly with 'Intentando', a song with bare instrumentation that gradually dresses up in rhythm to reveal that act of life that we all share... that perpetual and necessary act of 'trying'.
