Te doy mis ojos (Iciar Bollain, 2003)
Int.: Laia Marull, Luis Tosar, Candela Peña. Spain. 35 mm. Color. 106'
One winter night, Pilar runs away from home. She takes with her only four things and her son Juan. She escapes from Antonio, a husband who mistreats her and to whom she has been married for 9 years.
“There is no need to show skill with the camera, nor seek the brilliance of a phrase or shoot an impactful sequence: that is why Te doy mis ojos is a film with tight photography, music that is barely noticeable, planning without stridency and fluid dialogues. Like the best masters, Bollain only needs to let reality speak and the director hides in favor of characters and situations that —although obviously constructed— try to capture the complexity of reality.” (José Luis Sánchez Noriega)
Before the film, the short film Amores que matan (Iciar Bollain, 2000) will be screened. Duration of the short: 20’. (Total session: 125’).
