Description

Russian neo-imperialism
After the consecutive failures of the Tsarist Empire and the Soviet Union, the current Russian political elite claims its imperial status. Its economic weakness contrasts with its willingness to use violence to assert its reasons, questioning the European security system and the "transatlantic link."
Sixth session | March 19
The Middle East crisis
The crisis of the Turkish Caliphate and the penetration of European powers in the region ended up giving way to the artificial creation of states and years of political instability. The rise of Islamist currents, the Arab-Persian rivalry for regional leadership, supported by that of Sunnis and Shiites, and the difficult fit of the state of Israel are the most significant components of the most complex and conflictive region on the planet.
