The Absences cycle, curated by Desclasificados, invokes and summons current music artists and programs that are related to what is not heard. Since its inception, music has tried to give voice to the least heard and also to forgotten or silenced sounds, but they are not usually common in concert halls. With these absent voices we want to help balance that balance with repertoires and works that revolve around the unheard, the forgotten, both in a musical, philosophical and political sense.

The 2020 Grammy Award-winning Attacca Quartet "lives in the present aesthetically, without rejecting the virtues of the musical past," as described by The Nation, and it is this knack for slipping from 18th-century music to 21st-century repertoire. which makes them one of the most versatile and outstanding chamber ensembles of the moment, a quartet for modern times.

The quartet has recently toured extensively across the United States with concerts at Lincoln Center's White Nights Festival and the Miller Theatre, both with Caroline Shaw, the Phillips Collection, where they have been guests again this season, Chamber Music Detroit, Red Bank Chamber Music Society, Chamber Music Austin, Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston, Banff String Quartet Festival and has future engagements at Dumbarton Oaks, Ojai Music Festival, La Jolla Music Society SummerFest, Bang on a Can Festival in Brooklyn and The Rite of Summer on Governors Island. The Attacca Quartet has also been Quartet-in-Resident at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Resident Group at the Texas State University School of Music, and Graduate Quartet-in-Residence at the Juilliard School, where they will premiere their new film this year Plan and Elevation with music by Caroline Shaw .

Outside the United States they have recently performed at Kings Place in London, and at the Vertavo Haydn Festival in Oslo, as well as the Gothenburg Konserthuset, MITO September Festival in Italy, and the Bilbao Philharmonic Society. Next season they return to South America to offer concerts at the Sala São Paulo in Brazil, the Teatro Mayor Julio Santo Domingo in Bogotá, the Beethoven Foundation in Chile; Norfolk and the Norwich Festival in the United Kingdom, and also return to Spain.

This season the quartet has been exploring new digital forms, taking part in and also producing a number of filmed and streamed concerts for the Banff International String Quartet Festival, Duke Performances, Austin Chamber Music Center, as well as a digital engagement with the Szczecin Philharmonic Orchestra. Passionate about contemporary repertoire, the quartet is dedicated to presenting and recording new works. Their latest recording project Orange, for which they received the Grammy Award for Best Small Format Chamber Music Ensemble Performance, highlights works for string quartet by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Caroline Shaw. Previous recordings include three critically acclaimed albums on Azica Records, including a disc of Michael Ippolito's string quartets and the complete works for string quartet by John Adams. The latter was praised by Steve Smith of the New York Times as a "bouncy and convincing setting" and described the Attacca Quartet's playing as "lush, funky and... nuanced". The album received the 2013 Centennial Chamber Music Award from the National Federation of Music Clubs.

Additional awards for his recordings include the Arthur Foote Award from the Harvard Music Association and the Lotos in the Arts Award from the Stecher and Horowitz Foundation. Other accolades include First Prize at the 7th Osaka International Chamber Music Competition, Top Prize and Listeners' Choice Award at the Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition, and Grand Prize at the 60th Annual Coleman Chamber Music Competition. The Attacca Quartet has been involved in numerous educational and community outreach projects, serving as guest artists and teaching fellows at Lincoln Center Institute, Boston University Tanglewood Institute, and Bravo! Vail Valley, among others.
