The Archaeological Museum is the institution that preserves, researches and exhibits the material remains of the historical past of the islands of Ibiza and Formentera, called by classical authors as the Pitiüses Islands. This Museum was created in 1907, thanks to the donation to the State of the collection gathered by the Sociedad Arqueológica Ebusitana, which, since its foundation in 1903, had excavated in various places in Ibiza and Formentera. (mainly in the necropolises of Puig des Molins, Sa Barda and Ses Torres, and in the sanctuaries of s'illa Plana and es Cuieram).
