The Museu Marítim de Barcelona is an institution dedicated to maritime culture with more than 80 years of history that has the mission of preserving, studying and disseminating one of the most important collections of maritime heritage in the Mediterranean. It is located next to the Drassanes Reials building, on the seafront of the city and at the foot of the Montjuïc mountain. The origin of the historic building will be the construction of warships for the fleet of the Crown of Aragó. Les Drassanes will be cataloged, in 1976, as a Monument Històricoartístic. This equipment is managed by the Consorci de les Drassanes Reials i Museu Marítim de Barcelona, ​​formatted by the Barcelona City Council, the Barcelona Provincial Council and the Barcelona Port Authority.
