This 8-session course will allow you to discover how women have been represented as powerful figures in Asian culture, from China and Japan to Indonesia and Vietnam. We’ll explore how women have been portrayed as life-makers, custodians of knowledge, and spiritual leaders, but also as ghostly and demonic beings, endowed with great magical powers.
Organized by Casa Asia and in collaboration with Research Group Asia (GIA), Eurasian Humanism Recognized Research Group (HUME) and Working Group in Asian Studies (GTEA).
