Description
Les Luthiers is a well-known humorous and musical group, known worldwide for its humorous shows where they use instruments that they themselves make from useful materials of daily life.
Les Luthiers have performed at the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, the Palacio de las Bellas Artes in Mexico, the Sodre in Montevideo, the Lincoln Center in New York, IFEMA Palacio Municipal, the Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville, the Kursaal in San Sebastian and the Euskalduna Palace in Bilbao among many other great venues around the world.
Authors of both the text and the music of their shows, Les Luthiers have built instruments such as the electric chair, the mandocleta (made with a bicycle), the tin viola, the bolarmonium (made with balls), the chamber bagpipes ( for which they used a wheel), the coconut marimba or the taburete (built with a stool).
This list is completed by many other instruments, both string and percussion as well as wind and electronic instruments. In 2015 the band suffered the painful and irreparable loss of Daniel Rabinovich, an iconic member of the band since its founding.
Currently, Les Luthiers, made up of Roberto Antier, Carlos López Puccio, Jorge Maronna, Tomás Mayer-Wolf, Martín O`Connor and Horacio Tato Turano alternating with Pablo Rabinovich and Santiago Otero Ramos, are on tour in our country with their new production, Old Laughing Stock.
